With just over two weeks to till the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Amazon announced this morning that pre-orders for the book have reached 1.6 million, surpassing the previous pre-order record held by the sixth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Greg Greeley, vice president of books at Amazon.com says:
We are thrilled to offer our customers a low, low price for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows plus Saturday delivery at no extra charge. As a show of gratitude to our customers, we are giving every customer who pre-orders Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before July 21 a $5 Amazon.com promotional certificate to use on a future purchase in the month of August.
The last book in the series has set pre-order records since February 1st when pre-ordering was made available with pre-orders for the first day 547 percent higher than first-day pre-orders for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
You may remember that in May Amazon stated that they had reached 1 million pre-orders for the book with 11 weeks to go till the release date.
