Barnes & Noble this morning announced that pre-orders for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince total more than one million at Barnes & Noble stores and at Barnes & Noble.com, making it the best-selling pre-order book of all time.
Steve Riggio, chief executive officer of Barnes & Noble said:
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is outselling the summer's blockbuster movies, and it hasn't even landed on the shelves yet. Barnes & Noble's distribution centers are working around the clock to make sure that all Harry Potter fans receive their copy at the stroke of midnight as promised, and for that Friday night, our bookstores will become part of the books' magic.
For those fans in New York City you can see Jim Dale reading from the book as well as watch the JK Rowling broadcast from Edinburgh at the Union Square book store. The web broadcast will also be available at www.bn.com.
On a side-note Amazon shows that Half-Blood Prince has preorders of 836,094 beating the 789,000 pre-orders for Order of the Phoenix from 2003.
