Scholastic launches essay contest for U.S. fans

Scholastic has announcedopens in new window an essay contest for U.S. fans to receive their own copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as well as a vacation to London. All you need to do is write an essay no more than 300 words explaining why you Love Reading Harry Potter. You must be younger than 18 to enter and a legal resident of the U.S.

Harry Potter fans are asked to write an essay of no more than 300 words explaining why they Love Reading Harry Potter. Entries will be judged based on originality, clarity and the child's ability to describe their unique connection to the Harry Potter books and why they love reading them. Entrants must be legal residents of the United States and not older than eighteen as of June 16, 2005. Deadline for entries is June 16, 2005. The vacation package to London, England is courtesy of American Airlines Vacations, The Cumberland Hotel in London and Scholastic.

The ten winners will be announced on NBC's Today on July 1st.
