'Harry Potter' to battle 'Lemony Snicket' for effects Oscar

Organizers of the Academy Awards announced today that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has qualified to compete for nominations for the "Best Special Effects" Oscar next year. Other movies up for nominations includes: I, Robot, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Aviator, Spider-Man 2, The Day After Tomorrow and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
Each of the seven movies selected must supply a 15-minute clip reel to be screened for voters on January 19, all final nominations will be announced on January 25 with the awards ceremony broadcast live on February 27.
