A few weeks ago we posted pictures and a story about JK Rowling's donation to the 999 Club of a mini-book based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The auction, held last night at Sotheby's in London, raised a total of £125,000 ($229,768), of which £11,000 ($20,000) was paid for Rowling's book.
J.K. Rowling's one-inch (2.5-centimetre) tome -- which included pictures of Harry's witch's hat, broomstick and wire-rimmed spectacles -- was the third most expensive lot at a charity auction at Sotheby's.
The highest bid went for boxing legend Muhammad Ali's sketch of himself fighting Joe Frazier.
