The UK Government has pledged to cut the number of kids living in poverty by half by 2010, enabling the UK to move out of the bottom of the European poverty league - but a recent report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation revealed that while many people had moved out of poverty thanks to the improved economy, family homelessness has been getting worse and that many in the UK are still struggling, due to low-paid or insecure jobs.
Enter JK Rowling, who is actively campaigning to slash child poverty.
Harry Potter author JK Rowling last night used her favourite charity to warn Chancellor Gordon Brown he could miss his targets to cut child poverty.
The warning was delivered to No11 using 500 postcards on the eve of Mr Brown's crucial Pre-Budget Report to Parliament.
Hundreds of supporters of the National Council for One Parent Families called for an increase in the Child Tax Credit.
