A lecture at Belmont University will compare the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. Dr. Amy Sturgis will discuss how Tolkien and Rowling brought what was originally a children's genre into the realm of adult themes, including Death and Bereavement, Prejudice, Change, and Choice.
A look at Tolkien's own fiction -- especially The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings -- proves that Tolkien based his works on the exact same themes that Rowling has revisited so successfully in her novels.
The lecture will take place on Friday, November 7th, at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. For more information, contact Cynthia Cox.
