France and German translations of 'Deathly Hallows' sell strong

The French translated version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, (Harry Potter et les Reliques de la Mort), was released this past weekend and today the publishers, Gallimard, stated that over 1.15 million copies of the 2.3 million copies book were soldopens in new window. Back in October 2005 the sixth book in the series, Half-Blood Prince sold 800,000 copies in the first 24 hours.

Meanwhile, over one million copies of the German translation, Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes, were sold on Saturday in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, an increase of 13.5% more books than Half-Blood Prince. Thanks to Jonas from HPNewsopens in new window for the translation.
