The Scotsman has published a write-up about HP Fan Trips
's ride on Olton Hall #5972 (the Hogwarts Express as seen in the Harry Potter films) and the impact the series as a whole has had on tourism in the area:
The loco has previously run on the line only for the filming of the Harry Potter series, and it has never before ventured north of Glenfinnan, whose curving viaduct has featured in several of the films. Its passenger debut on the route had been scheduled for today, when a group of American fans have chartered the train as part of a Pottermania tour.
Editor's note: Indeed, we just got off the train a few hours ago. This is our third year and was by far the most amazing experience. The scenery in the Highlands and the view of Glenfinnan Viaduct was spectacular, and the rythm of the steam engine was at the same time soothing and exhilarating. I'll be posting pictures of our adventures when I return mid-July.
