Children's lit expert to speak at 2005 Harry Potter conference

John Cech, a 30-year veteran writer and scholar of children's literature, will be the keynote speaker at The Witching Houropens in new window, a convention for Harry Potter fans to be held October 2005 in Salem, MA.

Cech hosts a radio program on NPR called Recess! and is a contributor to The New York Times Book Review, USA Today and other publications. He joins previously announced guests including author Holly Black and MIT's Henry Jenkins.

Organizers of The Witching Hour have also put out a call for volunteersopens in new window, which include coordinators for fundraising, workshops, public relations, logistics, legal and art.
