Richard Griffiths & Julie Walters on Queen's New Year honors list

Harry Potter actors Richard Griffiths and Julie Walters are scheduled to receive Orders of the British Empire (OBE) and Commander of the British Empire (CBE) respectively.

These awards were created by King George V in 1917 and are now awarded mainly to civilians and service personnel for public service or other distinctions.

Others to receive this honor include actor Sir Ian McKellen, singer Kylie Minogue and television interviewer Michael Parkinson, to name a few.

Congratulations to both actors.
