Tickets to the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie are selling faster than those for Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End according to Fandango. The fifth movie had sold out for Tuesday's midnight shows and was accounting for 90% of Fandango's weekly ticket sales (as of 2:00 pm PT yesterday).
According to Ted Hong, Fandango VP of Marketing:
Tickets are disappearing at a very fast pace, especially for midweek shows. The latest Harry Potter is appealing to a wide audience, and looks like another rousing summer success, hot on the heels of Transformers, Live Free or Die Hard and Ratatouille.
Fandango are also surveying fans of the movie about the series and the latest results, based on several thousand Fandango respondents, are as follows:
-- 86% like the darker direction in which the Harry Potter series is progressing;
-- 95% are planning to buy or have already pre-purchased a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
-- 80% said they would buy a ticket to a movie starring Daniel Radcliffe where he does not play Potter
-- 85% of ticket-buyers say the top reason for buying a Phoenix ticket is because they've seen all of the other Harry Potter movies
-- 76% of Phoenix ticket-buyers on Fandango are female
-- 72% of Phoenix ticket-buyers on Fandango are under the age of 35
-- 65% of the ticket-buyers do not have children
