Spellbound! releases detailed schedule of events

Spellbound! 2005opens in new window, the Mt. Prospect, IL party celebrating the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has announced its detailed schedule of events. Types of activities range from spectator to active participation and include a scavenger hunt with prizes, raffles, live music performances and more.

The event is sponsored by HPANA, MuggleNetopens in new window and Wizarding World Pressopens in new window with the huge support of DanRadcliffe.comopens in new window.

Roving Peeves, Owls and Elves (10 a.m. - midnight)
Expect a little peevish fun with these creatures roaming about the event. Be on the look out - you never know when one might just pop up.

Bludging Practice (10 a.m. - 10 pm.)
Grab your bats and make your way through to our magical croquet setup. Located on the second floor of Randhurst Mall, on the east side.

Marauder's Scavenger Hunt (10 a.m. - 9 p.m.)
Don't forget to stop by the information booth and pick up your maurader's maps. All participants will be entered into a prize drawing and receive one raffle ticket for each stamp on the map. This hunt will take you to various locations in the mall and surrounding city. (Maps must be turned in to the information booth by 9 p.m. Drawings will be held at 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the live stage. Must be present to win.)

Wizard Chess (Every 2 hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
A "life-sized" chess game with real people acting as the chess pieces. Stop by and be a part of the action. Located outside of Carson Pirie Scott in the mall.

Land-based Quidditch* (11 a.m. - 8 p.m.)
Designed by the USA Team Handball for HP Fan Trips, it's Quidditch minus the brooms! Located on the grassy green behind the Northbrook Hilton Hotel.

Virtual Reality Broom Flight Simulator* (11 a.m. - 10 p.m.)
This is a true virtual reality broom flight simulator video game in which participants find themselves "in" the middle of the action itself. Located inside the Northbrook Hilton Hotel.

Spellbound Common Rooms* (11 a.m. - 10 p.m.)
There will be plenty to discuss in our three themed discussion rooms: Theory & Analysis, Fan Fiction & Fan Art, and the "Snape" room. Two rooms will close at 8 p.m., with one remaining open until 10 p.m. If you've got something to say, or a theory to proclaim before you get your copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, this is where you need to be! Located in the Lincoln Ballrooms A, B, and C at the Radisson Hotel.

Wizard Prison (11 a.m. - 11:30 pm.)
Send a friend to Azkaban! You can buy a citation in advance for $3 from Alivan's (located on the second floor). Once you see a dementor, grab one, give them the citation, and watch them escort your targeted victim to the Wizard Prison. Those put in jail won't leave empty handed - goodies for everyone, courtesy of the house elves. Located in the center of the mall by T-Mobile.

Sorting Hat Raffle (11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.)
Get sorted or draw a prize, either way you're a winner! Located in the center of the mall by Dakota Watch Company.

Doomspell Tournament (11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.)
Put your wizarding cap on for this fun competition! Participants will be required to complete various tasks throughout the tournament and winners get a prize. Located between the Children's Play Area and the Sorting Hat Raffle.

DA Practice (11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.)
Pick up a wand and learn how to cast a spell. Great for the little ones! Located next to the Doomspell Tournament, inside a store lot.

Graveyard Bowling* (12 p.m. - 10 p.m.)
Come and knock over as many glow-in-the-dark Death Eaters as you can at this spooky graveyard scene. Located at the Best Western Palwaukee Inn.

PeeWee Costume Contest (2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
For kids up to age 15. Dress up as your favorite character and be one of the four lucky winners! Located on the live stage. (Masks may be worn during the contest but are otherwise not allowed for security purposes.)

Open Costume Contest (10:15 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.)
Be one of the four costume winners when you enter as one of your favorite HP characters. Located on the live stage. (See note about wearing masks above.)

Caricature Artists (10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.)
Nothing like a bit of art to remind you of a fun event! Sit down and let our artist create a fun memory you can take home. Located by the northwest entrance to the mall.

Face Painting (10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.)
Show your spirit: get a little color painted on your face for extra fun. Located in the Children's Play Area.

Fortune Tellers (10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.)
Have your future told, let the mysteries unfold, for the young and for the old! Don't miss your chance to see what the future has in store for you. Located by the northwest mall entrance.

Pajama Reading Party* (midnight - ???)
Every hotel will have one or two rooms set aside for readings - either quiet or aloud. Located at the Hilton, Radisson, BW Palwaukee, and Wingate Inn. A snack trolley will pop in and out for the duration of the party at the Hilton. When you're ready to crash, just head up to your room!

Live Acts/Stage (various times - see schedule at event)
Official Spellbound! Welcome, Tony Goldmark, Steve Goodie, Bold and Stupid Men, Weird Brothers, Luke Ski and Harry Potter Trivia.

* Activities with a star beside them indicates that the event is off-site and you will need to take a shuttle to participate.
