Canadian Harry Potter publisher Raincoast Booksopens in new window has issued a press release and some artwork for their 100-day countdown to the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth book from author JK Rowling.

"As Hermione will tell you, now is the time to start preparing," reads part of the release. "The Second War has begun. Voldemort's power and followers are increasing day by day."

Here is the first look at Raincoast's promotional posters and artwork initiating the 100-day countdown:

April 7 (today) marks exactly 100 days to the greatly-anticipated publication. Bookstores around the world are preparing for an onslaught of eager fans who will queue up for the special midnight release hours in advance.

U.S. publisher Scholastic has said its first print run will be 10.8 million copies, a new record that strips that honor from Harry Potter 5's release in 2003.

Rowling saidopens in new window this week that she had just finished "the very last tiny edits" on Half-Blood Prince. "I'm now taking a few months off to concentrate on my new daughter." On her seventh and final Potter book, she said: "I doubt I'll be doing any sustained writing on HP7 for many months yet."

The author also warnedopens in new window that while she likes book 6 better than books two, four and five, others may not. "Book six does what I wanted it to do and even if nobody else likes it (and some won't), I know it will remain one of my favourites of the series."
