'Prisoner of Azkaban' nominated for two Oscars

Earlier this morning the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announcedopens in new window their Oscar nominations, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has received 2 nods. Nominations are in Best Visual Effects and Best Original Score.

In the Best Original Score categoryopens in new window Prisoner will be competing against Finding Neverland, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Passion of the Christ & The Village for the Oscar. This is the forty-third Academy Award nomination (including five wins) for John Williams.

In the Best Visual Effects categoryopens in new window it is up against I, Robot & Spider-man 2. This is the first nomination for Roger Guyett, the second for Tim Burke & the fourth for John Richardson.

The Oscars will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, February 27 (please check your local listings).
