Kids paying to be in latest Potter movie

Highland Council yesterday defended a school principal's decision to take earnings from pupils acting as extras in the latest Harry Potter film. Youngsters at Lochaber High School have been asked to forfeit their £35-a-day fee for every school day worked on the set.

The move has apparently angered some parents because children from a nearby school also working on the movie are being allowed to pocket their money.

Kinlochleven High School Principal Jim Sutherland accepted a donation of £90 from the film's makers Warner Brothers to cover any administration costs.
