Who is Michael Gambon?

We all know he will be taking on the role of Albus Dumbledore, following the death of Richard Harris, but what other works has he done? This article from The Oregonian talks about some of those roles:

Michael Gambon will soon be famous as the actor who took over for the late Richard Harris in the "Harry Potter" films. Much of what he's done to date, however, is geared far more toward grown-ups.

"The Singing Detective" (1986): In this brilliant seven-hour mini-series, Gambon plays a crime novelist crippled with psoriasis who rewrites one of his books in his head to stave off boredom.
