This must be something of immesurable magnitude for her to cut ties with what has meant so much to her in the past. I'm sure there are a lot of unstated things that made her do this. We may never know exactly what. At least there is an investigation being done throughout the whole of the charity. I hope it isn't because of people getting greedy with money, but somehow I feel money is at the bottom of her decission.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

Interesting news. I wonder what on earth the board's done to provoke her to completely step down. It's got to be something quite serious...

I'm glad she is keeping to her morals. I just hate to think that such a good charity is being torn apart by infighting and probably the channeling of funds to something other than research and helping those inflicted with this disease.

Very sad. I am sure that we will learn more about it over time. She is so dedicated to this cause due to the death of her mother. Hopefully things can be worked out.

How a sad way to end a relationship. But I think it is a good decision for her to make. Besides she can continue to support the fight against MS even if she is not a patron of any charity group. Also, this may serve as a wake up call to those parties involved to fix things in the charity. May they not forget their true mission and purpose.

That's sad, I wonder what was changing inside, maybe they weren't taking things as seriously as they used to or just becoming corrupt....hmms....
Well at least she will still support MS research and stuff, thats all that matters in the end, not how she does it.

If the charity is turning into something bad, then I can totally understand why she would want to leave. Hopefully they'll get their act together.

I think it's sad since it was MS that claimed her mother's life. There's probably more to it then what is stated. I'm sure a lot has to do with corruption and greed. At least she will continue to support research for a cure.

That's sad :( I'm sure Jo wouldn't give that up unless there was a really good reason for her to do so.

That's sad, she must have had a really good reason, JK wouldn't give up just like that.

That is sad. She had so much influence with this, being that she is JK Rowling and all. Im sure she has good reason for making this decision though.
I hope she will continue with other charity work.

It is with all regret...But, she is an author not a politician nor obligated to these commitiees. I believe that with these constant evens that she is attending is stopping her from writing.

Well they shouldn't be carrying on like that, she's stepping down because of those people resigning and etc., and they're acting like she's doing it because she can't be bothered or something.
"The Harry Potter author" hey! She has a name, don't label that like it's her title or something. She's a normal human being like you and I and her name is J.K. Rowling, or Jo :)
I love you J.K. you don't deserve all the junk they heap on you. You are so caring and kind and generous; you're the best!

How sad that what seems like "in fighting" cost this very worthy orginazation a very good representative. I know this must have meant very much for JKR to give this up. It had to be really bad, I don't think she would have walked otherwise. Who ever the people were that caused this to happen will in time realize what a huge mistake they made---but then again some people never do realize becasue they are so caught up in themselves.

Sad news of the separation...but understandable. Change is always stressful and difficult...and sometimes it requires going separate ways. It is wonderful that JK will be able to continue to support research for MS. It is a wonderful cause to support.
