This weekend, the Empire Awards
were held in London and while Order of the Phoenix was nominated in six categories, David Yates
was the only winner, leaving with the best director
award.
Multiple Harry Potter actors were in also attendance, including Emma Watson, Evanna Lynch, Katie Leung, Jim Broadbent, and Jason Isaacs. Some photos and videos can be seen on Empire's official website here
.
Thanks to Raadhika from The Daily Snitcher, who sent in pictures
of Yates and the actors and actresses.
The awards will be broadcast in the UK on ITV2 tonight (March 10th) at 9:00 pm.
UPDATE: Thanks to TLC
for letting us know of a new video interview
with director David Yates at last night's Empire Awards, where he mentions talks of him directing the Deathly Hallows movie and that he's definitely "tempted."

Just commented on hard to believe that it has been so long since the film was out. Hard to believe that the awards are still coming in. At least it makes the wait for HBP go easier.

Good to see everyone who attended seemed to have a wonderful time.
Why is there always all this talk of new directors for every movie when ones like David Yates receive awards for things like best director? Hhmmm...just wondering. Congratulations!

Congratulations to David Yates for being recognized in this marvelous manner!
Personally, I would love to see Alfonso Cuaron return to direct the seventh film. He would perfect it, as he did the Children of Men.

Good to see that they nabbed at least one major award - shame that there were no acting nods though ...
I feel that he did a good job with the time constraints of the 5th movie, but I'm hoping they get someone else for Deathly Hallows - like bring on Peter Jackson!!
Congratulations David!

David Yates best director? OOTP was not that good.
Kiera Knighty best actress? She can't act at all.
Now I know that the Empire Awards are a complete joke.

Emma looks absolutely beautiful, I love her dress. She's really been going for the off-the-shoulder look. What she wore this year was so much better than what she wore in 2005.
Too bad she and Dan didn't win. I'm not surprised that Kiera won for "Atonement", she's been winning loads of awards for that movie. At least Yates won, which I think he deserved. OotP was my fave HP movie. I'm so happy he's directing the next one, but I really want him to direct DH.
