With filming currently ongoing for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie, producer David Barron has confirmed
that there will be a new scene added to the movie featuring the Burrow.
We don't often have things that aren't in the book.
But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world-there'd be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody's parents had been killed or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn't think it was safe. And we're made aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort.
The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn't do that quite so easily in the film. So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody's safe. I think you'll like it. It's quite effective.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released in November 2008.

I hope we're wrong... :( If that is the case, I will be very upset... One of my favorite chapters in the book... JKR had wanted to use that chapter a few times before HBP... It was YEARS in the making. What a shame.

I like that idea alot, cause the whole feel of what going on in the world is hard to portray subtlety, but this give it a way to add it in, plus JKR approved it, so that means it isn't going to be thrown in there and not make sense, or be horribly done.. :)

"This is true? The script was leaked online about 2 weeks ago, I read it and it had this scene in it. The script sounded so damn fake, like someone fooled all of us and made it up!! Hermione calls Mr. Weasley "Arthur"-why would she do that? The scene is where this big fight scene happens and the Burrow get's completely destroyed by some Death Eaters. The Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and I think some aurors(and death eaters) are all doing the fighting."
Wow. I'm nice and confused now. According to the Harry/Ginny network, Harry and Ginny fight Greyback together and you get to see Ginny's magical power. And why would Hermione even be there? I mean, if the scene comes in the middle of the film, we can safely assume that they are at the Burrow for Christmas, and in the book, Hermione does not even go to the Burrow for Christmas! And yes, it does sound odd to me that Hermione is calling Mr. Weasley "Arthur." Perhaps it is a foreshadowing of her relationship with him as his future daughter-in-law?
And I hope it is not true what you all saying about it being horrible writing. But as it's David Yates I'm not surprised.

I quite like the idea of a new scene. Now that I have finally accepted the fact that the movies cannot include absolutely everything that is in the book, *sniffs*, I like that they are attempting to capture the overall essense of the books themselves.

Yes, this is an important place. It's not like you can cut out a place where a lot of action happens. That would be terrible.

Well once it doesn't change any of the story lines... that is once it flows with the events in the book, i guess it will be good.

Quite effective? Well, if it is effective I think I will be fine with it. Usually I like things true to the books, but I trust the producers and director of this one (Yes, especially Yates)!

OK well as long it helps people that didn't read the book understand better... I mean some things aren't explained in the films like:
Was it mentioned in PoA that Remus, Sirius, James and Peter were the Marauders?
I'm not even sure becouse i read the books and it's all mixed up in my head...
