With filming currently ongoing for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie, producer David Barron has confirmed
that there will be a new scene added to the movie featuring the Burrow.
We don't often have things that aren't in the book.
But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world-there'd be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody's parents had been killed or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn't think it was safe. And we're made aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort.
The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn't do that quite so easily in the film. So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody's safe. I think you'll like it. It's quite effective.

I agree with him that it is difficult to try and distil the entire book into a short movie, so it'll be excellent to have that undercurrent of what's happening in the "outside" world included in the movie ...

But if Jo approved of this and agreed with the rest of the crew that this will be essential to the plot then I feel a bit more comfortable with it.
I can't wait to see the film and how this scene will fit in with the rest of it.

I'm always sceptical about their inventions for the scenario. Some additions have indeed proved relevant, but the film never benefits from too much meddling with the original storyline. It will have to be really good, not just fill-in.

Well the scene is in with JK's blessing so I have to be okay with it. I find it hard to believe that this is the only creative way to get a point apart but again I am not a screen writer and they really seem to be trying much harder with the accuracy. Just can't wait for the movie to get here.....

I usually don't like for scenes to be added to the HP movies, but this one might be a good idea, to let us "see" the problems going on being caused by Voldimort.

It's great that the directors are trying to maintain the feelings from the book while still understanding that they have to go about it in a different way. I'll be interested to see this extra scene and hope that it accomplishes the goal.
