A glowing review of the high-definition version of the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD is now online, thanks to its recent release in the United Kingdom. Apparently fulfilling the promise of an "In-Movie Experience", here's an excerpt of the HDTV News review
of the HD DVD version:
The Goblet of Fire is possibly one of the best HD transfers to date, with clean crisp pictures looking stunning and at times almost 3D like in quality. Warner have made a real effort to provide all of their High Definition release with Dolby TrueHD which adds to the superb mix, especially when pushed through a decent quality amp. The whole experience is an assault on the senses that will leave you demanding more of the same.
Overall, a wonderfully reproduced HD DVD which shows High Definition at its best....
As previously reported, all four Harry Potter films will be released in the high-definition DVD format sometime in 2007. However, release dates in the U.S. and other regions are still pending official announcement.
UPDATE: You can see new images here
from the high definition Goblet DVD.

Of course it was a glowing review, hi-def for an already visually aesthetic movie? it's going to end going to end up looking real enough to feel heat off of the horntail's breath.

It looks like HD may be here to stay? I honestly hope so, in my opinion it seems to be the better format. I think if all of the HP movies come out on HD it may convince me to get an HD player.

Wow, how lame... did they have to gloss it that badly? ~The 2D image is so HD that its almost 3D but its not because its 2D but buy it anyway because we dont have anything more meaningful to say about the DVD itself just yet. I was actually hoping to hear some content and not this propaganda T_T

That's really cool, but I'm not going to get the GOF HDDVD, because don't you need an HDDVD player to go with the DVD? I'm just fine with the regular DVD's to tell you the truth.

Sweet. I wish I had the chance to see it. Wish that I had an awesome home theater system to watch it on. Unfortunately, though we in my family are not paupers, we've never really been able to afford to buy nice LCD widescreen TV's or quality surround sound systems. It's not all that bad, but I'm sure the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Hi-Deff experiance wouldn't be the same without all that :(
