In a video of an interview from this morning on UK television, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) from the Harry Potter movies, discussed his character in the latest movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which he has finished filming.
He mentions fighting Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) in the Ministry of Magic scenes and how he won't be starring in Half-Blood Prince but begged author J.K. Rowling to let Lucius out of prison so he can make an appearance in the last film.

Cool, but I don't want J.K Rowling to let him out of jail. He is a bad guy and he will cause trouble. Maybe they could something with him in jail or they could zap his memory. Maybe he would be less dangerous that way.

Oooh, how cool how much he did for the character, jeez it's really good they didn't make him the way they first wanted too, with a suit and all... I think Lucius Malfoy works so well in the films, and in a way it's a shame they didn't "save" Jason Isaacs for the role of Voldemort, he would have been much better, I mean the way it is now, Lucius Malfoy is cooler, colder, more controlled and seems generally more clever and evil than the rotten Voldemort we got in GOF... (With his jumping around and speaking in falsetto... grrr)

Wow, that interview was way cool! I didn't know Jason Issacs was so dedicated to this part. I hope Lucius does get out of jail just because I see how much it means to the actor that plays him. He's perfect for Lucius, and it's cool to see the influence he had on this part. I don't blame him for wanting to return. Maybe he could return in the 6th one as a memory in the Pensieve or something.

It would be hard to miss him in a later movie. Only JKR knows for sure at this point. I can't imagine him being left out at this point. I think he will play some role at the end.

It has to be great!!! I believe he will get out of prison anyway but lets hope he wont make Harry's life much more difficult...

Usually I don't watch the actor's interviews (mainly because they're dull) but Jason Isaacs is a real fan. You can tell he really loves the role of Lucius and I love when he talks about he input into the character. I was laughing through that whole talk of Gary Oldman trying to stab people in the ministry!
