Disney is close to finalizing a deal with Warner Bros. to bring a Harry Potter themed attraction to life, media insider Jim Hill said
on his web site last week:
After several years of protracted negotiations with author J. K. Rowling as well as Warner Bros. (During which the Walt Disney Company had to pay out an estimated $140 million in order to land the network broadcasting rights for both "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets"), it appears that the Mouse is just inches away from finally acquiring the rights to use the characters and settings from all seven of the "Harry Potter" books in a theme park setting.
While many of you may remember this same rumor popped up in 2003, an independent source tells HPANA it may have more validity than ever before. You can be sure we'll continue to track the story and bring you updates as they happen.

It would be a nice deal, although I don't think they'll get that deal done before the release of the seventh book. Let alone the release of the 7th movie. You might forget that WB also has themeparks (I know of at least one in Germany: WB Movie World) and I rather think they'll use the Harry Potter franchise in their theme parks. It'll make them much more money on long term

Oh God, I really hope this doesn't happen. Whenever Disney takes something it generally vulgarises it and spoils it from what it originally was. It would be terrible if they did this to HP.

Ok, Harry Potter in Disney Theme Park. Not that it has anything to do with me. I doubt that I'll never see it even if they get it built. But it won't do anything bad to Potter's reputation, I think.

That would be really cool to have a ride based off of Harry Potter. The only thing is how they would do it. I know that if Disney made one they would get a ton of people coming to the parks and I'm sure that's there whole reason for wanting to do this. I'm all for it. It had just be as good as they say it is and worth the time and effort they put into it. I don't want it to be some kiddie ride or too scary for others. It needs to be for all ages.

Well, if its gonna happen... I wonder if its going to be one HP theme park on its own, or just one part of Disneyland. And if the latter, I wonder where... California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, or Hong Kong.

I don't know how I feel about this one... I agree with Oliver Is Fit about how disney does have a tendancy to tamper with many great things and end up messing it up in the process... it could be cool, but what in the world would they do?

This would be really great. I think it would increase the longevity of the HP characters and books. Since it would keep it dynamic and live for a long time to come. More fans would get exposure to new elements as well. My guess is that any ride will not come out until after book 7 and would include the ending in the ride.

That would be really cool. But how could they fit everything into one ride? I wonder if it would be like a ride or more like a sit on a boat thing and watch all the characters.

I hope this is true... I mean seriosuly wouldn't it be great? To ride through the tunnels of Gringotts or play virtual Quidditch. Or go to Hogsmeade... It's as if all my good dreams have come true.
I'm tearing up at the thought, let's just hope it's good. If it's not then disney is going to have a lot of unhappy potter fans in its hands, and they aren't very nice when provoked, no they's not precious.
