That is excellent news for all those who cannot read the books for what ever reasons.
I do worry about the cost though, I have seen that the OotP audio tapes are £60ish. How does anyone afford them?

You know what? I was thinking about this the other day. I just might buy the audio version later to listen to while I'm doing other activities and can't pick up a book and read it. This way I can still get doses of the books I so love:)

I've heard that the audio books are amazing, but I've never actually listened to them myself. They are quite long, so I'd have to be on a trip or something... it would be too disruptive to be listening to them when you are driving around town because too many stops would disrupt the story.

What?!!!!!!!
I bought my CD for OOTP at the Midnight Release!
I can't do the same for HBP?
That's seriously a bummer.
If you've never experienced Jim Dale perfoming the books you don't know what you're missing!
He is in the book of records for the number of voices he does...a different voice for EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER!!!!!!!

This is great. The audio books, both US and UK, are a great way to enjoy the books. Particularly, with younger readers.

I would love to get the Potter books on CD, but they are SOOOO expensive. Hopefully when all 7 are out, they will sell the set at a decent price. *crosses fingers*

i have the US version of the books on cd performed by Jim Dale - all of them! they were a graduation present of sorts. they are wonderful for long car trips or while doing something mindless - housework, playing solitaire:) they are costly - but you can get all of them through outlet sellers now at about 2/3 the cost instead of $75 for OotP its around $50... and they are well worth it to my way of thinking.

I've never listened to an audio book but I've been thinking about trying it for those times when I cannot hold a book. I guess Harry Potter would be a good one to start with since I love the books so much :-)

I wonder if they do all the voices, or if it's just one person reading it all in their own voice? Hmm... Either way I think I like the good old fashioned way best.
