The world's largest Internet retailer
posted a $15.5 million profit in the third quarter, a dramatic reversal
of Amazon's $35 million loss posted this time last year. The company's book sales jumped 15 percent, thanks to Harry Potter, and CEO Jeff Bezos says the 2003 holiday season will be Amazon's biggest yet.

Good for Amazon! I like them; they got me books 4 and 5 on the day of their release, and in the mid-morning too. Not bad, and I got to go to sleep at a more normal hour.

Amazing. Yet the stock dropped a tremendous amount on the news. I ordered the UK version of the books from Amazon Uk and they shipped to the US. They were also the only place I could get the Stephen Fry version of the audio books. He has a differnt style than Jim Dale (I have both versions).

WOW, they made a profit, even when selling OOTP half-price??? Well, that's impressive- Imagine if the same number of people had bought the books at full price! I was wrong, apparently- I had bet that Amazon would loose money selling the books that cheap... well, that's why I'm not in buisness, I suppose!

I love Amazon! They always have the coolest and newest Harry Potter stuff! I am always buying several items at once to take advantage of the free shipping. I wasn't aware that I could be helping Hpana - I'll have to start doing that from now on.

That makes sense, Harry Potter is really helping people who sell books usually. That one article about buying to many books and not being able to sell them is partly the store's fault! So i guess Yay for amazon.
