Just when you thought it was over between them, a new court date has been set
to hear an appeal to the ruling in April that prevented sales of the Dutch version of Tanya Grotter. An Amsterdam court said that the books were too similar to JK Rowling's Harry Potter series, but Grotter author Dmitry Yemets continues to call them "parodies."
It was expected that Dutch publisher Byblos would appeal. The two sides will face off on September 12 in Amsterdam.

Fan fics is one thing, but taking a successful idea (or character in this case) from someone else and trying to sell it for a profit is a bit like stealing, bad form grotter.

Who is this Tanya Grotter? Never heard of her. Seems to be another person who profits by using (or should I say misusing) HP. Hope she will pay for it!

As far as I'm concerned they should publish the Tanya Grotter stories and let the girl and her bass fly where it may, if it is in fact a parody then it will fail as have the others like Barry Trotter (which wasn't even that funny)

It's so obvious this guy is copying Harry! I mean, Tanya Grotter! He couldn't even pick a name that sounded different! And the plot is the same, she goes to a boarding school and has a strange mark on her face. Oh yeah, and she has magical powers! Grr! I think they should totally sue this guy for copying JK fab ideas.

We should gather all the HP and TG fans into groups... The POTTS and the Grotts... we can all go around, singing songs, and fighting by snapping our fingers. And then, the head of the Potts falls in love with the kid sister of the head of the Grotts... and then.... wait.... already a movie.... darnit.

Looks like everyone has to try and cash in on Harry Potter, doesn't it? What a rip off - JK Rowling had to come up with her own stories - so should everyone else!

It doesn't seem right to let this book be published. However, I have to agree with Choralee, if it was/is published, then we will see another downfall of those who want to copy JK Rowling's work.
Personally, I have never heard of Tanya Grotter. From the info posted here it sounds like blatent, and very badly done, plagerism.

what is she trying to prove? That she is a fake? we already know that so she can quit now. Is she planning on having a trial in every country in the world? cause if she does, I say J.K and her should have a little chat. Real author to fake. Genius to moron. It should be interesting.

I think its sda that someone would stoop this low. But I guess when people think they've found a way to make money, they're going to try to. It wouldn't surprise me if half the people that bought those books hadn't even read Harry Potter.

I don't like it when people try to copy the Harry Potter books, because no one could do as well as JK Rowling herself, and people can be nutters for thinking that they could write something as good as that.
