Hey Everyone! So, this is my second fic attempt. The first one is...well, a bit of a failure - and I completely understand why! This time, I have actually sorted out a plot - which is probably what I should've done the first time.
This is the story about Draco's twin sister Annabelle, and her first year of Hogwarts - which is technically her 6th, seeing as that's where she starts...It is Annabelle's version of Half-Blood Prince, but it really isn't what you would expect - she is really only a Malfoy by name and looks, and the name is pretty much a give-away of what House she gets sorted into.
I'll start posting today. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter One - The Forgotten Sister

Everyone knew the Malfoys - for good reasons or bad.

There was Lucius, the father, with long, white-blonde hair and a cold sneer, who was well known for being in the Dark Lord's inside circle. Then there was Narcissa, who was rather beautiful when the same sneer wasn't applied to her thin face. And last, was Draco, their teenage son. he resembled his father greatly, with his sleek, platinum hair, cold, grey eyes, long face, ending in a pointed chin, and - of course - the trademark Malfoy sneer. Everyone knew that the Malfoys were overly proud of their pure-blood status, and they made their hate for muggle-borns very clear.

One thing that hardly anyone knew, was that there was a second child in the family - Draco's twin sister, Annabelle.

Annabelle Malfoy looked almost identical to her twin brother. She had the same grey eyes - hers weren't as cold - the same pale, pointed face - hers wasn't quite as long - and the same sleek, white hair, which fell - dead straight - down to her waist.

Annabelle had never shown an interest in Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and had never been enrolled. She told her father she didn't wish to leave home, and he respected her wish, and Lucius and Narcissa began to home school her - to Narcissas dislike.

But everything was due to change this year. Lucius had been caught and imprisoned by the Ministry of Magic, for being involved in acts of Dark magic, leaving Narcissa in charge of the household. Narcissa Malfoy was sick and tired of her daughter not being at Hogwarts, for she wasn't recieving a proper education. Now that she was the head of her household, Narcissa had decided that she was going to enroll Annabelle in Hogwarts, whether she liked it or not.

Chapter Two - Mother Knows Best

Annabelle Malfoy woke with a start, after hearing a door slam and raised voices. Rubbing her eyes and yawning, she got out of her huge bed, pulled on her black, silk dressing gown, and hurried to find the source of the commotion.

She was halfway down the large, crystal staircase when she could make out the voices, coming from the kitchen.

"-don't see why you even involved him!" It was the voice of Annabelle's aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange.

"Because he can help!" The voice of her mother, Narcissa Malfoy, hissed back.

Annabelle continued down the staircase, stepping louder, and the voices cut off. She continued into the living room, where she found the two women standing in front of the fire, both wearing thick travelling cloaks.

"Aunt Bella!" Annabelle cried happily. She crossed the room quickly, and hugged her aunt.

"How are you, my dear?" Bellatrix asked, kissing Annabelle on the cheek.

"Fine," Annabelle said. "So...why were you yelling?"

Narcissa's eyes contracted, and she glared at Bellatrix, who looked perfectly at ease.

"Don't worry yourself, Anna, it's nothing," she said soothingly, stroking the top of Annabelle's soft, blonde hair.

Narcissa cleared her throat. "If you don't mind, Bella, I need to have a word with my daughter."

"Ah, of course," Bellatrix said. She turned back to Annabelle. "That is my cue to leave. I shall see you soon, sweetheart."

Bellatrix pulled the hood of her cloak back up, and left the Manor. Narcissa turned to Annabelle, with a stern look on her face.

"We have to have a talk about the arrangements for the year," she said, removing her cloak and taking a seat on a black, leather lounge. Annabelle looked at her curiously, and sat down on the arm chair opposite.

Narcissa drew a deep breath, and said, rather quickly, "you're going to Hogwarts."

"What?" Annabelle cried, jumping up at once. "Why?"

"It is about time you got a proper education. You can't expect me to teach you forever, you know!"

"I don't want or need to go to Hogwarts - I have everything here! There is absolutely no reason for me to go there!" Annabelle yelled, crossing her arms across her chest stubbornly.

Narcissa stood, looking down on her daughter with a look of authority upon her face. "You have to learn, Annabelle! I don't see why you're making such a big deal about this. Hogwarts isn't that terrible - Draco seems to think that you'd enjoy it."

"Oh, he does, does he?" Annabelle growled, making a mental note to pummel her brother before the day was up.

"Yes, he does - and so do I. Look, I am incharge of this house-"

"No, you are not! Father is!" Annabelle cried, tears starting to form in her eyes.

"Your father is in Azkaban, so therefore, I am incharge here. You're going to school, Annabelle, whether you like it or not!" Narcissa said with a tone of finality. She left the room without another word, and Annabelle stalked back up the crystal staircase, mumbling profanities to herself.

She flung the door of her twin brothers room open, and it flew into the wall with a crash. He barely moved. Growling, she stomped across his room, and over to the window. After flinging the silver and green curtains open, she turned back to the bed. Draco was still asleep. Annabelle groaned noisily, and stomped her way to his large bed.

"Wake - up!" She huffed, punching him in the arm.

Draco's eyes flew open, but he squeezed them shut again, groaning, and pulled a pillow over his face.

"Anna!" His muffled voice moaned. "Why are the curtains open?"

"So you wake up!" Annabelle said, ripping the pillow away. Draco's eyes opened, and he glared at her, forcing himself upright.

"Why do I have to wake up?" He said, stifling a yawn.

"Why did you tell mother I would enjoy Hogwarts?" Annabelle asked, ignoring his question, her voice coming out as a groan.

"Is that all this is about?" He said, sliding back down. "You would enjoy it if you gave it a chance, Anna. Stop being so stubborn."

He closed his eyes again, facing away from the window this time, and yawned.

Annabelle folded her arms across her chest again - very stubbornly - and made sure to slam Draco's door on the way out.

Annabelle wasn't afraid of going to Hogwarts, she just didn't feel that she had to. She had everything she needed at Malfoy Manor, and her parents were better teachers than any of the old windbags at Hogwarts surely would be.

Annabelle sighed, sitting down on her own bed, once back in her room.

Suck it up, a voice in the back of her head said, you're a Malfoy, don't be such a baby. Just go. It'll make everyone happy.

Yeah, everyone but me, Annabelle thought bitterly. She layed back onto her pillows, knowing there was no way to get out of going.

Come on, it wont be that bad. Just look at the bright side, and you'll be fine, the little voice said.

Annabelle searched hard, but the only bright side she could find was spending more time with her brother over the year.

That was hardly a bright side.

Chapter Three - Sorted

It took a few weeks for Annabelle to accept the fact that she was going to Hogwarts - most of which she spent alone in her room.

"Come on, Anna," Draco said, a week before the first of September. "You have to come down some time."

"No, I don't," Annabelle said, putting make-up on in her large mirror.

"Stop being stubborn, alright? It's not that bad, Hogwarts, you'll enjoy it." Draco was sitting on her bed, watching her with an annoyed and bored look on his face.

Annabelle snorted. "If it's so good then why are you always complaining about it?"

Draco ignored the question.

That night a t dinner, Annabelle could vaguely hear her mother's voice talking to her, but wasn't really listening - her mind was else where. Draco nudged her in the ribs, and she jumped, dropping her fork back onto her plate and looking straight to her mother.

Narcissa scowled. "As I was saying - I sent an owl to Dumbledore, and he said we can go to his office tomorrow morning, so you can be privately sorted."

Annabelle was confused. " Why do I have to be sorted? I mean, we all know I'm going to be in Slytherin, the whole family has been."

Narcissa sighed, cutting up a piece of chicken. "I know that, but Dumbledore seems to think that you must be sorted anyway. 'Just in case', as he put it."

Annabelle shrugged. "Alright, then," she said.

At nine o'clock the next morning, Annabelle dressed in a dark green dress and her travelling cloak, and went downstairs to wait for her mother.

"We're going directly to his office," Narcissa said, once she had emerged. "By Floo Powder."

They walked over to the large, brick fireplace, and Narcissa threw a handful of powder into it - the flames turned bright green.

"In you get," Narcissa mumbled, following her daughter into the flames. Narcissa cried, "Professor Dumbledore's Office!" and, with a whooshing sound, they were flying.

They jolted to a stop, and Annabelle emerged from the fireplace, coughing. She looked around; Annabelle had just emerged into a circular room, the walls lined with portraits, and silver ornaments on the tables, all whirring and puffing smoke. Annabelle smiled at them, and moved forward to take a closer look.

"Fascinating, aren't they?" A voice said. Annabelle gasped, and turned to see an old man with long silver hair and beard, wearing sparkling purple robes.

"You must be Miss Malfoy," Professor Dumbledore said, his eyes twinkling. He held out a hand, and Annabelle smiled, shaking it.

Narcissa cleared her throat, loudly. "Can we get on with it, Dumbledore? I do have things to do today."

"Of course," Dumbledore said. He walked toward a tall shelf behind his desk, and pulled down a old and frayed wizards hat.

"Now, if you would very kindly place this on your head, we can proceed to the sorting," he said, holding the hat out to Annabelle, who took it, and placed it on her blonde head.

"Hmm..." A voice said in her ear; the hat, she guessed. "Tricky...There is an obvious choice here, but there is something else. A tinge of...Tricky..."

It continued to mumble in Annabelles ear for a few minutes, and Narcissa's face grew more wary - Dumbledore wasn't even watching. He was staring at one of his ornaments and twiddling his thumbs.

Finally, the brim of the hat opened.

"I have made my decision!" It called, and Dumbledore looked over. "This girl belongs in Gryffindor house!"

Annabelle's eyes widened in surprise, staring straight at her mother, who looked like she was going to have a stroke.

"Well, that's that!" Dumbledore said pleasantly, removing the hat from Annabelle's head.

"That's that?!" Narcissa yelled. "There is some mistake! Annabelle can't be a Gryffindor, that's absolutely absurd!"

"Apparently not," Dumbledore said calmly, sitting down on a chair behind his desk. "The sorting hat's word is final, Mrs Malfoy."

Narcissa glared at Dumbledore. "No child of mine is going to be a Gryffindor!" She hissed, spit flying from her mouth.

"Mother, calm down, it isn't that big of a deal," Annabelle said, surprised but unworried about the hats decision.

"Not that big of a deal?!" Narcissa yelled, looking quite mad. "It is a huge deal, Anna! I will not have this, Dumbledore - tonight I will write to the board."

"I shall see you in a few days, then, Annabelle," Dumbledore said, ignoring Narcissa's threats and mumblings as she stalked away. Annabelle couldn't help but smile at his genuine face.

"Annabelle!" Narcissa hissed, from inside the fire place. Annabelle started, and ran to her mothers side, facing the Headmasters office.

Dumbledore waved, smiling, and Annabelle waved back, before whooshing through the Floo Network once more.

Chapter Four - The Trio

Annabelle emerged from the large brick fireplace in the Manor, next to her mother, Narcissa, who was still muttering angrily under her breath. Annabelle rolled her eyes as her mother stalked off, and tried to brush some of the ash from her dress, as she removed her cloak and skipped into the living room.

Draco was sitting across from his friend Blaise Zabini, both in green dragon skin armchairs, and between them was a shiny gold wizards chess board. Neither of them looked up when Annabelle entered, both deeply concentrating on the game.

Annabelle wandered over to sit on the arm of her brothers chair.

After a full minute of silence, Blaise muttered, "Bishop to D6." The Bishop slid over to the square, and smashed one of Draco's knights.

"Damn," Draco mumbled. Finally, he looked up, just as there was an almighty smash echoed down the stairs. "What was that?"

"Probably mum smashing a vase," Annabelle said, brushing hair from her face. "She's a tad angry."

"Queen to B2 - why?" Draco asked, watching his Queen stab Blaise's castle.

"Because I got sorted into Gryffindor," she said casually, standing up.

"WHAT?!" The two boys yelled at the same time.

"What do you mean you got sorted into Gryffindor?" Draco yelled, following Annabelle, who was now waltzing into the kitchen.

"I mean I got sorted into Gryffindor," she said slowly, teasing.

Draco scowled. "How on earth did that happen?!"

Annabelle sighed. "I put on the hat, it said 'Gryffindor!', I took off the hat - I thought you would've remembered from your own sorting."

"But - but - you just - Gryffindor! - you can't be a - mistake - Gryffindor!" Draco spluttered angrily.

"Gee, calm down! It might not be permanent - Mother said she's going to write to the board to see if I can get changed."

Draco sighed in relief, and jumped as he noticed Blaise was standing next to him. "That's better. Mother will make them move you."

"Seriously, I don't see the big deal here!" Annabelle cried, exasperated. "It's just a house, doesn't change who I am."

Draco grimaced, and he and Blaise walked back to the living room to continue their game, Annabelle walking up to her bedroom.

She didn't emerge until she was called for dinner, by her bitter-sounding mother.

"We will be visiting Diagon Alley tomorrow," Narcissa said, a slight growl in her voice, "so you two can get your school supplies."

"Visiting where-now?" Annabelle asked, interested.

"Diagon Alley!" Draco breathed, frustrated. "I swear, you know so little about our world that you could be a Muggle!"

Annabelle mocked her brother in a mumble - who glared, and continued eating in silence.

Narcissa rolled her eyes. "I am expecting an owl from the board in the morning, so we will soon have this mess sorted out, Anna, don't you worry."

"I'm not worried," Annabelle said truthfully.

Narcissa scowled. "Well you should be!"

Annabelle raised one eyebrow. "I thought you just told me not to be..."

Narcissa didn't reply, she just scowled down at her food.

"I'm going to bed," Annabelle muttered, frustrated, marching up to her bedroom. Who care's what house she was in, seriously! It didn't make a difference to who she was.

Annabelle awoke the next morning early, dressed in a knee-length, sleeveless silver dress, and headed down to the dining room, where her family was already sitting. After a quick breakfast, the three Malfoys flew through the Floo Network, stopping in a small wooden shop, lined with shelves of books.

"Ah, Flourish and Blotts," Narcissa growled through clenched teeth - she had recieved an owl from the board that morning, stating that Annabelle was to stay in Gryffindor. She had been cold-shouldering her daughter ever since, who really did not care.

Narcissa bought two copies of every book on the list, and then they made their way to Madam Malkin's - a shop selling robes. Narcissa fussed over Draco, who needed new dress robes and school robes, not even paying attention to Annabelle, who was scanning a rack full of Gryffindor robes.

Annabelle heard the faint tinkling of a bell as she walked toward a small change-room. She took off her dress, and put on the Gryffindor uniform - a white shirt, long grey skirt, grey sweater with a red rim, a red and gold tie, and black robes, with the Gryffindor emblem on the chest (a gold lion on a red background). She studied her reflection in the tall mirror infront of her, and smiled. Annabelle really didn't know why she was making such a fuss about going to Hogwarts - she was actually starting to look forward to it.

Changing back into her dress and bundling the robes, Annabelle hurried back out to the main part of the shop, expecting to see her mother and brother waiting there. her brow furrowed - they were gone, replaced by three others. Standing on seperate plinths, were three teenagers, who looked about the same age as Annabelle.

One was a girl, who had billows of bushy brown hair; the second was a tall boy, with flaming red hair and freckles; the third was slightly shorter, with messy black hair and round glasses.

"I'll take these," Annabelle said to Madam Malkin, placing the robes on a counter. Madam Malkin ceased the pinning of the girls robes, and walked over to where Annabelle stood, wrapping the robes in brown paper.

While she did this, Annabelle walked over to the plinths, deciding it best to try and make some friends while she had the chance.

"Hi," she said pleasantly, standing infront of the middle plinth. "I'm Annabelle. And you are...?"

None of them answered straight away, they were all appraising her with their eyes.

Finally, the girl spoke.

"I'm Hermione," she said, "and this is Ron-" she pointed to the red head on her right, "-and Harry-" she pointed to the other boy, on her left.

"Hate to be rude," Hermione continued, "but, you look awefully familiar - would we know you or any of your family at all...?"

Annabelle nodded, dreading the reaction that would follow her next words. "You would. My twin brother is Draco Malfoy."

It was not what she expected. Hermione raised her eyebrows and looked at Ron, who looked just as surpised. Harry, however, glared.

"Then why are you talking to us?" Harry asked, suspicious.

"Well, I'm starting at Hogwarts soon, and I figured I should try and make some friends-"

Harry snorted. "Us? Friends? I highly doubt it."

"And why is that?" Annabelle asked, placing her hands on her hips.

"Because you are one - a Malfoy, and two - a Slytherin. Two types of people I try to avoid, you see?"

Annabelle smirked. "Only one out of two, I'm afraid. As of yesterday, I'm a Gryffindor."

Hermione and Ron looked even more stunned, still staying silent, and Harry looked fairly taken aback, but kept glaring.

"That doesn't stop you being a Malfoy," Harry said.

"True - but, unfortunately, I can't control my parentage. And if you stopped for a minute to turn a page and stop judging the book by its cover, you would actually find that my name and looks are the only thing my brother and I have in common."

"Sure..." Harry said, unbelieving. "And what would your reaction be if I told you Hermione was a muggle-born?"

Annabelle rolled her narrowed eyes, jumped up on Hermione's plinth, and wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug. After a second, she let go, and jumped back down, grinning at Harry - who looked simply stunned.

Annabelle paid for her robes, and picked up the package. She turned back to the three when she reached the door.

"Try and broaden your mind a little, Harry, I could use a little less judgement from srangers in my life," Annabelle said. She waved to the trio and thanked Madam malkin again, then walked back out onto the cobble stoned street to find her mother, who had very rudely left her alone in the shop.
