Kerry McGuire packed her bag as slowly as she could. "Hurry up!" shouted her mother, "You're going to be late!" "Remind me again why I signed up for this exchange program?" "Because you wanted a challenge. You said so yourself that your cousins were not enough of a competition for you." "That's true." replied Kerry "They can never keep up with me in lessons." "Kerry," said her mother, "you were casting spells before you could walk." This is true. My magic is way more advaced than my cousins. The Aunts even wanted me to learn magic somewhere else when it came time for me to join the others. The Aunts were Kerry's five aunts on her dad's side of the family. Aunt Marty, Aunt Lu, Aunt Ritha, Aunt Velda, and Aunt Liz. These five taught the children of the McGuire clan how to use magic. These five told Kerry's mother that they did not think they could teach their neice. "She is a seventh child, Judy" said Aunt Liz three years ago. "Kerry being a seventh child means that her magic; since she has shown signs of it; is going to be very powerful." But off she (Kerry) went to learn what she could from them. All five of their powers combined could not hold a candle to Kerry's power. It was that strong.

Before entering her third year of studing under the Aunts; Kerry signed up for a forign exchange program for witches and wizards. She had chosen a school in England to attend. Who knows. She thought. If I like it there; maybe I'll compleat my education there instead of studing under the Aunts again. It wasn't that Kerry didn't like her aunts; she just could not stand her cousins. They could be such morons sometimes. Before long; Kerry was packed and ready to go. "Who's going to be taking me?" asked Kerry. Before her mother could answer; Aunt Liz materialized out of thin air. "Are you ready, Keritza?" asked Aunt Liz. Keritza was a pet name that the Aunts used with her. Mostly to make her father mad. "I'm all packed, Auntie." "Well; lets shake a leg then." Kerry took ahold of her aunt's hand and in a puff of smoke; was transported from Kansas to Kings Cross Station in London. "Now; you have to go to Platform 9 and 3/4. Do you want me to come with you?" "If you don't mind." "Of course I don't mind. Your the strongest witch in the family! We have to keep a special eye on you."

Kerry and Aunt Liz walked towards platforms 9 and 10. Casually leaning on the wall between the two; they slipped right on through to the other side. "Now; I have a special present for you. Here; this is your own owl to send us letters on your progress here." "It's beutiful, Aunt Liz! Thanks so much!" It really was a beautiful owl. It was snow white with emerald green eyes. Kerry decided to name her owl Ophilia after the charcter in the Shakespere play Hamlet. Kerry hugged her aunt once again and got on the train.

Seamus Finnigan was sitting with his best mate Dean Thomas in their compartment when someone on the platform caught his eye. "Hey, Dean, do you see that girl out there on the platform. I've never seen her on the train before. Who do you think she is?" "Not sure," replied Dean, "but she looks to be our age though. Maybe she's an exchange student." "Yea, maybe. I wonder where she comes from?" "Noticed the little eye candy from the States haven't you, Finnigan? Quite a little catch isn't she?" Chapter 1 continued



Kerry walked though the coridor of the train; trying to find a compartment to sit in. This was very difficult because A) Kerry had never been on a train before. And B) She was carring her owl and trunk in a small coridor. Finally; she came to one that only had two people in it. Both of them were boys; but this did not bother Kerry; as she had five older brothers. She knocked on the door to get their attention. "Excuse me;" Kerry said, "do you mind if I sit with you? I can't seem to find anywhere else to sit." Kerry noticed that one of the boys had sandy hair and brown eyes and that the other one was black and had deep brown eyes. "Sure;" said the boy with deep brown eyes, "you can sit with us. Right, Seamus?" The boy named Seamus just looked at Kerry as if the cat got his tounge. I wish he'd say something. The other boy is nice; but he's just down right cute! Kerry thought while she put up her trunk. "I'm Dean by the way and this here is Seamus." "My name is Kerry. It's nice to meet both of you." Seamus finally found his voice long enough to croak out; "Where are yoiu from?" After asking this question; he (Seamus) started to turn red. Kerry smiled at him and replied; "I'm from Kansas. And I'm willing to bet that by your accent that you are from Ireland." All Seamus could do was nod his head. Wow; he must really feel embarassed. Kerry thought. I wonder if I can get him to speak to me somemore?

You idiot! Seamus thought to himself. She probalbly thinks that your a moron! He could not help himself. There she was; the girl from the platform right there in front of him. She was beautiful! She had shoulder length light brown hair and light brown eyes that almost looked green in a certain light. And her name was 'Kerry'. What a pretty name for a pretty girl. Seamus' heart did a back flip when she smiled at him. She has the most amazing smile that I have ever seen. Seamus thought. I wonder if she'll be in Gryffindor? Just then the compartment door opened again. Seamus looked up expecting to see Draco Malfoy and his gang again; but this time it was Harmony Granger. Harmony was Hermione's sister and quite frankly the more likable of the two. "Hello!" Harmony said. "I don't think I've met you? I'm Harmony; what's your name?" "Well, Harmony, I'm Kerry. I tranfered here from the States." "Oh how cool! Were did you go to school at over there?" "I was home schooled by five of my aunts." "Are you from a pure-blood family?" asked Seamus. Now that Harmony was here; it would be a lot easier for him to talk to Kerry.
"What do you mean by 'pure-blood'?" asked Kerry. "Oh pure-blood just means that everyone in your family is either a witch or a wizard." explained Seamus. "Well; my aunts can do magic and so can some of my cousins. But I'm the only one of my dad's kids who has any magical potential and there are seven of us." "Seven!" exclaimed Harmony. "What; is your family Irish or something?" "Yes; we are." said Kerry. "My sur-name is McGuire." This got Seamus to thinking. He had heard of the McGuire clan. Not only could they perform wandless magic; but they were also considered a noblity of some sort. Maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to get involved with her.He thought. If she's a McGuire; then she must be really powerful.

Wonderful!!! I love it and you put Harmony in it!!! I cant wait for more!! YAY!! Keep it coming Kerry!!! Blaise wnated me to ask you where he was but you know how he is... I think he should hav a non speaking part hehe :)

I think it's sweet that you've created a love interest for Seamus. We never heard much about his love life from the books. Awesome job!! Looking forward into reading what happens next.

Chapter 2: Dementors, Dorks, and other things.

As the train moved along; rain started to fall on the country side. Kerry looked out the window past Seamus and sighed. "What's wrong?" asked Harmony. "Nothing," said Kerry, " I just realized houw much I missed home." "Tell us about Kansas." said Dean. "Yeah," agreed Seamus, "What's it like?" "Well," started Kerry," where I'm from it's called Gardner. It's a small town and there is not musch to do there. I grew up in the country where the only excitment a person sees out there is the occasional tornado." "What's a tornado?" asked Dean. "A tornado is kind of like a cyclone only wit a lot more wind." "Sounds noisy." commented Harmony. Kerry thought for a momment; then said, "It is; but it's also pretty facinating to watch. The sky looks green and it gets real quiet before it hits."

"Sounds like the effect I have on all the girls." said a new voice. Draco Malfoy had come back in the compartment and had opened the door while Kerry was talking. This time he was flanked by Crabbe, Goyle, and Zabini. Kerry looked Draco up and down but said nothing. "I see that you are speachless by my good looks." he said. Kerry just stared at the blonde before finally saying, "nope, just wondering what that smell was. Then I realized that it was you. Every one of Kerry's new friends laughted as Draco's face turned a brilliant shade of red.

"You would do better to be nice to me." Draco told her. "And why would she want to do that?" asked Harmony. "Who asked for your opinion Grang....Wait; you're not Little Miss Know it All. Who are you?" "Harmony Granger and Little Miss Know it All is my sister." "Granger's sister huh? Well, well, L have two ladies to get to know better." "You know," said Kerry to the others, "I don't think that I have ever met anyone with an ego like his." Then; turning back to Drac; she said, "Lift your nose any higher in the air and a bird will fly up it." And with that; Kerry hit Draco and his friends with a Knock Back spell and shut the door.

Chapter 2 continuned:

"You can do wandless magic?" asked Dean. "That was the first thing I was taught." replied Kerry. "We aren't taught that until 7th year." said Harmony. "Really? How strange. So; your sister is a know it all?" "She reads alot adn makes top marks in every class. So yeah; she is a know it all." "What's her name?" "Hermione," said Seamus, "and I wouldn't even try to keep up with her in class. She is way advanced." "Well, I think she's in for some stiff competition."

The train rattled on in the rain while the fout of them chatted on. Suddenly; the train came to a sharp stop. Kerry and Seamus where knocked into eachother. Their hands touched momentaraly. Seamuse looked into her eyes and felt a spark pass between their fingertips. Seamus pulled his hand away first and said, "We must have broken down. It's too early for us to be at Hogwarts yet." "Something is definatly going on." said Harmony, who had gotten up to look out in the coridor. The train shook again and Harmony was knocked back into her seat. "What's going on?" whispered Kerry in Seamus' ear. He just shook i=his head. The fact that Kerry was so close to him now left him too speachless to answer. All Seamus could think about was if he planned his move right; he could kiss her.

The lights on the train went out and everything went cold. A dark shadow glided past their compartment. Seamus; who was about to make his move; stopped what he was doing. Why would he be on the school train? Seamus though. It's not possible. Half an hour later the train was moving again. "What was that thing?" asked Kerry. "A dementor," answered Seamus, "They gaurd the wizard prison Azkaban." "Creepy." said Kerry. "Got any more ot those chocolate frogs, Dean?"

The train finally pulled into Hogsmead. Kerry walked with Seamus and Dean to the carrages that took them to the castle. At the front steps; a small wizard came over to Kerry and asked; "Are you Kerry McGuire?" "Professor Flitwick I Prosume?" asked Kerry. "Correct," he said," Come with me and we will get yoiu sorted into the right house before the first years." Kerry followed Professor Flitwick to a small room off the Enterence Hall. "Sit down and place the Sorting Hat on you heard." Kerry did so; thinking that this was utterly silly when the hat spoke. " Well, well. I can see lots of talent here. Mistchief as well. Never had a student who fits into all te houses. But I think I know where you belong. Gryffindor!" Kerry took off the hat and handed it to Professor Flitwick. "Here are some Gryffindor robes. More will be placed in your dorm room while you are at the Start of Term Feast. You can change and I'll go and get Percy Weasly. He'll be your guide for the next few days." With that; Professot Flitwick left. Kerry looked down at the school robes. Dress shirt, tie, sweater, skirt, stockings, and Mary Janes. Plus a robe to go over it all. Catholic school nightmare come to life. thought Kerry. She hoped this Percy person wasn't like the bleached blonde ding-bat she had met on the train.

Awww I love it! I love tornados!there very interesting to me and ive seen about 4 in my lifetime. Blaise is stilll upset that he can't talk but its a ok with me hehe! Cant wait for the rest!

Oh; he will talk. Just not right now. Tell him not to worry; he does have some lines coming up. I plan on having him say something as I sit down at the Gryffindor table.

Haha!! Love that line about the bird flying up Draco's nose...of course he doesn't but...whatever...I was totally confused and then remembered that this is third year so....silly me.

Chapter 3: First impressions are had to judge by.

Kerry put on her new school uniform quickly. She had just finished putting on her shoes when Professor Flitwick returned. "Oh good; you're ready. This is Percy Weasley. He will be your guide for the next few days. He is also Head Boy; if you have any questions ask him." Kerry looked at Percy and mentally groaned. If the blonde from the train was arogant; this guy is pompus with a capital "P". she thought. Percy stode over to Kerry and shook her hand. "It's a pleasure to make your aquantance, Miss McGuire." he said. "Kerry is fine if you don't mind." she replied. "If you will follow me; I'll show you to the Gryffindor table.

Kerry followed Percy back into the Enterance Hall and into the Great Hall for the start of term feast. All eyes were on her as she made her way to the Gryffindor table. At the table nexted to it; Kerry noticed the blonde and his followers. This time he had a dog faced girl next to him. "Well; look who it is, Zabini," said Draco, "the beauty from the train." "What's a matter, sweetheart? Slytherin not good enough for you?" taunghted Zabini. Kerry strode past them as fast as she could. Looking around; she finally spotted Seamus, Dean, and Harmony sitting with a group of other people about her age. Shae walked up to them and sat down beside Seamus, who started to turn red again. While Kerry was pushing in her chair; her hand brushed agenst Seamus' and she felt a spark go though her hadn just like she had felt on the train. Kerry looked as Seamus. Surly he felt it too. she thought.

Glad to see that you're in Gryffindor." said Harmony. "This is my sister, Hermione." "NIce to meet you." said Kerry. "Same to you." said Hermione. "This is Ron Weasley." said Dean, pointing to another red-headed boy. "Weasley? Percy wouldn't be related to you would he?" asked Kerry. "Unfortunatly he's my brother along with Fred and George." Ron said pointing down the table at a pair of identical red-headed boys. "This is my sister, Ginny and this is Harry Potter." "Hey; I've heard of you back in the states!" Kerry replied. "Darn," said Harry, "I was hoping that there would be at least someone who had not heard about me."

Just as everyone had gotten settles in; Dumbledore stood up to make his anoncements. "Now as some of you may have noticed; we are playing host to the Dementors of Azkaban. They are here in search of Sirius Black; who escaped from Azkaban Prison." "Who is Sirius Black?" whispered Kerry into Seamus' ear. She has got to stop doing that! he thought. "He's a crazy mass murder who escaped out of Azkaban a few nights ago." Seamus replied, "Nobody knows why or how though." "I picked a bad time to transfer." said Kerry. Seamus was about to reply back when the new Defence Aganst the Dark Arts teacher caught his attention. Wow! He looks dreadful! thought Seamus. He hoped that this one would be better than Lockheart. Man was he pathetic. Wiht hte last anoucement made; everyone got up from the table. Percy Weasley came over to them and tole Kerry "I have to supervise the first years to see that they get to thier common rooms. This group will be able to take you to the Gryffindor Common room."

Chapter 3 continued

Kerry followed everyone she had ate dinner with out of the Great Hall and into the Enterence Hall again. "It's really not that hard to make it to the common room." said Hermione. "I'm sure I'll remember it after being shown the way once." replied Kerry. The group climed up a series of stairs. Kerry noticed that the portraits on the walls moved. "How cool is that!" she exclaimed. "Don't you have pictures that move?" asked Ron. "No; my aunts think that making pictures move is a waste of magic." answered Kerry. "All it takes is the right potion to make the pictures move." said Hermione. "Oh I know," Kerry replied, "it's just that my studies with them covered a more broader scale that what Hogwarts offers." "What were you taught?" asked Harry. "I was taught potions, transfiguration, alchemancy, wandless magic, and much more." "So you're the one who performed wandless magic to kick Malfoy out of their compartment on the train." said Ron. "I have to shake your hand. Malfoy was so shocked he's been telling the whole school about it."

"Well it's nice to know I'm making an impression on him. Wait; which one was Malfoy?" "The blonde with his gang of idiots." replied Harmony. The gang stopped at the top of a flight of stairs. In front of them was a portrait of a Fat Lady. "Fortuna Major." said Seamus. "Wait just a minute." said the Fat Lady and started to sing again. "Fortuna Major!" Harry yelled. "Up,up,up,up,up." she said and started to screech this time. She smashed the glass she was holding agenst the frame of her picture. "Amazing; just with my voice." she said. "Fortuna Major." Harry said again. "Oh; alright. Come on." said the Fat Lady. "Thank you." replied Harry. All of them went through the portrait hole into the Gryffindor common room.

Kerry looked around then procceed to follow Hermione and Harmony up the stairs to her dorm room. "You'll be rooming with us." said Harmony. "We share a room with two other girls." "That's fine," replied Kerry, "what are the other two like?" "Pavarti and Lavender are best friends and really like to gossip." said Hermione. "So long as they're not two-faced; I can get along with them." commented Kerry. Hermione snifed and opened the door to their room. Well aren't we the pretentious one. Kerry thought. Hermione was definatly going to be hard to get along with.

Seamus, Harry, Ron, and Dean reached their dorm room and procceed to unpack. "Did you see her eyes?" asked Ron. "One minute they're brown and then the next minute they're green." "Yeah," replied Harry, "she is very different from the other girls here." "Are you talking about the new girl?" asked Neville who had just walked in. "Yeah," said Dean, "you should have seen the spell she used on Malfoy." "I heard about that. Boy; she is going to give Hermione a run for her money."

Seamus listened to what the others were saying but did not join in. Everything they're saying is what I've been thinking. And it seems I'm not the only one who's taken by her. he thought The other boys kept going on about Kerry's looks and everything. Seamus just put away his stuff and thought about how his and Kerry's hands had touched again at dinner. It wasn't until he heard his name mentioned that he broke aout of his thoughts. "Seamus is quite smitten with her." said Dean with a smile. "A few minutes of being tounge tied and you accuse me of being smittened." replied Seamus. "Oh come on, Seamus," said Harry, "nobody would blame you if you were." "Yeah," chimmed in Ron, "and from the way she was looking at you during dinner; I'd say Kerry is quite taken by you as well." "She kept looking at me?" Seamus asked. "Yeah, mate, she kept trying to catch your eye all though the meal." replied Dean. Seamus thought on this. If she was looking at me all though dinner; maybe she thinks I'm not such an idiot after all. He was so deep in thought again that he did not realinze that the othet boys had started horsing around until a pillow hit him in the head. Waking up from his daydreams again; Seamus joined in.

Kerry had everything organized when Pavarti Patil turned to her. "So; you're the girl who used wandless magic on the train?" she asked. "Yes," replied Kerry who was already sick and tried of this question, "you all act like I did something wrong." "Oh no;" said Lavender Brown, "we're just impressed that you can do it." "Really? You have a funny way of showing it." Kerry said. "So; what do you think of Seamus?" asked Lavender, "He's really cute." "I'll agree with you that he is cute; but he's really shy." "Shy?" asked Pavarti, "That's odd; he's usually trying to impress one of us." "Whatever; I'm going to sleep." said Kerry crawling into bed. The girls blew out their candles and got into their own beds. Kerry could hear Pavarti and Lavender still talking in whispers. "Whatever you two have to say to eachother can wait until morning." said Kerry and Hermione at the same time. The two of them looked at eachother and smiled slightly. Maybe Hermione won't be so bad after all. thought Kerry as she fell asleep.
